Snowmageddon 2008 has arrived!
It’s pretty great. I actually stole that post title from one Shaina, a friend from Jr. High, Highschool, and College. She and I have had many shenanigans together. It is in fact sad that today, on this glorious day of a whole 4 inches of snow, we cannot make more shenanigans together. Alas, she is in ye olde Renton, and I am in Capitol Hill.
Here is my apartment building! It was built in 1902 and has insulation which reflects that!
Abe and I are about to take a GLORIOUS trek to the grocery store in this photo. We even took some video. My voice on tape always shocks me!
And we have the view from my apartment window early this morning. I love the snow!
I have not yet tasted the fruitcake Abe and I are baking today, but I can certainly tell you about it in lieu of a recipe. Abe will, after all, be posting a recipe for a delicious chicken bouillabaisse tonight. I don’t want to spoil you. You, one person who reads this blog. THANK YOU FOR READING. That didn’t sound desperate.
Anyway, back to the fruitcake. I actually really like fruitcake. I had some when I was in high school and couldn’t stop eating it. So, on our trek to the store today we bought ingredients for fruitcake. A bunch of figs, dried apricots, and dates. Pecans and almonds. All chopped up and mixed together with the tiniest bit of buttery brown sugar batter and about a half cup of rum. Oh yes. I can smell it all in the oven now, at 300 degrees, flavors melding and solidifying. Decorative pecans on top. I am so excited. I am so excited that it’s winter. REAL winter. I love that.
Wow, that’s a lot of snow for out there. It’s very pretty.
